Steinbach has outdone themselves this year with their new additions. Re-imaginings of old favorites, delightful renditions of classic tales, and brand new ideas add to the already masterful canon of Steinbach nutcrackers.
This year Steinbach added an 11th nutcracker to their Dickens Christmas Carol Series, Christmas Day Scrooge. This nutcracker depicts Scrooge after he’s been visited by the Ghosts and changed his ways. Steinbach has already created a Night Clothes Scrooge, a miniature Scrooge nutcracker, and a Scrooge ornament, so it’s delightful to see this additional Scrooge enter the collection.
Also the 11th in its own series, Professor Marvel adds to the magic of the Wizard of Oz. This classic story keeps getting new breaths of life, and not just from Steinbach. But Steinbach ups the ante with this nutcracker. With his crystal ball and golden turban, you can almost hear your own fortune!
For their popular 12 Days of Christmas Series Steinbach created Part 8 – Eleven Pipers Piping. Every nutcracker in this collection is a limited edition so make sure you get your collection going before it’s too late!
Previously the Christmas Legends Series featured Santas from around the world – the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the German Alps region, etc. This year Steinbach pulls out all the stops with Father Christmas! Father Christmas comes dressed in green and carries a list of who’s naughty and who’s nice.
The Christmas Traditions Series adds the Santa Baker with Gingerbread House to its ranks. This nutcracker holds a classic gingerbread house to symbolize the German tradition of family holiday fun and decor.
Steinbach has also added another king to its collection. This time it’s the King – the King of Rock and Roll that is. Elvis has gotten the Steinbach treatment, wearing a Santa hat with his trademark sideburns and white jumpsuit. He holds a microphone and is ready to sing “Wooden Heart,” the German-style folk song immortalized in G.I. Blues.
Steinbach has also introduced a BRAND NEW series this year! In Germany, mushrooms as Christmas ornaments are considered good luck. So Steinbach designed a Mushroom Man nutcracker to be the first in their Christmas Elves series. This nutcracker has a mushroom hat and holds a mushroom in his left hand.
Steinbach has also added more nutcrackers to their collections, including:
Junior Lancelot in their Junior Camelot Series
Elf Nutcracker
Musical Winemaker Nutcracker
Five nutcrackers for their Chubbies series:
Chubby Balthasar
Chubby Caspar
Chubby Melchior
Chubby Moose Man
and Chubby Gingerbread Baker
With so many options to choose from, you may just have to get more than one!
Reusable water bottles are all the rage…It used to be you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing someone with a Nalgene or Sigg bottle attached to their backpack. But, how many metal or plastic water bottles that claim they are dishwasher safe, have warped in your dishwasher or tasted like detergent? I personally prefer that my water actually tastes like water…not what the bottle is made out of. I think we can all agree that there is nothing better than drinking water out of glass. Before your mind starts going through all the problems a glass water bottle can have, read on. I recently purchased the Takeya Modern Glass Water Bottle, and it quickly became my new favorite. This attractive bottle is made of glass, that has a colorful silicon sleeve that protects the glass bottle from breaking…even if you drop it directly on the cement. I’m serious, I did it myself. My other gripe about some of the other plastic bottles is that the mouth of the bottle is so large…it practically splashes out onto your face. This bottle features a much smaller mouth with a twist off cap. Most of all, the whole thing is dishwasher safe, you don’t even have to remove the silicon sleeve. It comes out clean and your water tastes the way it should…like water, not Cascade. The Takeya bottles come in many shapes and sizes…and all fit perfectly in the cup holder in your car, or if you’re like me, directly in my bag. So go ahead…drop it, wash it, love it.

I’ve never been one to volunteer to cut the grass. Starting up the gas mower was always tricky, sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn’t…it was heavy and hard to control. But I love being outside and I love working in the yard, so I was happy to learn that reel mowers were making a comeback. And why not? They are budget friendly, environmentally friendly and quiet. I had seen people using reel mowers before, but they never seemed like they cut the grass well. How could something so light weight actually cut through grass? Living in the city, we have a pretty small yard, so we figured we should give the reel mower a shot. Plus, the silent mower works well when one needs to cut the grass after 10pm! So when our shipment of Fiskars Momentum Reel Mowers arrived at ClicktoShop, I figured what better opportunity to give these guys a try. First of all, this is one nice looking reel mower…it has a sleek appearance and simple build. The handle is adjustable, and I was able to get the perfect height for my 5’4” build. I found it incredibly easy to push, and it cuts beautifully…as it should with the Fiskars name. You can still create those perfect lawn stripes just as you would with any gas or electric mower. I was done with our entire lawn in 25 minutes…and I saved gas money and the environment, and my neighbors could enjoy their outdoor BBQ in peace and quiet.

This past week, I received my Le Petit Chalet Song Bird Feeder. I had been searching for the perfect bird feeder for quite some time…something that was functional, but also looked cute hanging from the tree in my front yard. I didn’t want one of those boring plastic tube looking bird feeders that ends up falling out of the tree and shattering into a hundred pieces. Luckily, a little brand called Le Petit Chalet has a huge selection of cute bird houses and bird feeders in lots of colors and styles, as well as specific feeders to attract various birds. There’s already been a few birds checking out their new dining hang out!
Chair by Chair by Chair … by Sondheim?
Leave it to Harvard students to take it upon themselves to start putting on “Chairs” musical shows in support of the Fermob Luxembourg Side Chairs that adorn the University’s yard. Check out their latest performance on YouTube –
Fermob Luxembourg Stacking Side Chairs at Harvard
They started arranging the performances because according to the “reporter”, the campus is split as to whether they like the addition to the yard. When all else fails, a musical dedicated to Fermob chairs most likely gets the point across. Great job!
With Summer just around the corner, it is time to bring out your patio, deck and pool furniture. Fermob’s Luxembourg Bar Cart was featured in Elle Decor as one of the best bar carts on the market and comes in 24 different colors!! It is perfect for any occasion and has a removable tray in which you can use by itself as well!
